Department of Psychology was established in 2011 belonging to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Cukurova University. First students (47) were approved in the 2012-2013 academic year.
Undergraduate Program takes four years. Undergraduate program in our department involves two main groups as mandatory and elective courses. The first two years, weights were given to the compulsory courses to cover basic fields and theories in our program, the number of compulsory subjects has been reduced in the third and fourth class and the weight were given application oriented electives for the reason that students make their interests and preferences. In our program, the place is also given to out of course-related fields of psychology such as general Biology, social anthropology and economics in order to give our students a versatile angle of view. Courses that require computer use are included in the undergraduate curriculum.
The department continues to work with a total of 4 faculty members. Also there are 5 research assistant who continue their education in different universities psychology graduate program with Faculty Development Program (OYP) on behalf our department.
Our department aims to provide graduates with knowledge of basic theories and methods of psychology, serving in accordance with the ethical competence in different areas of psychology, social awareness and responsibility. Alumni of undergraduate program of the department of Psychology are able to pursue graduate programs in a particular field of psychology. Apart from, they can work at government agencies such as Ministries of Justice and Home Affairs and Health, and the education, industry and industry associations in many different sectors.
